Details of activity: Activity against S. pneumoniae and S. pyrogenes is similar to that of telithromycin, however, is effective against macrolide sensitive and resistant bacteria. Additionally in comparison to telithromycin demonstrates a greater lung to plasma, with greater distribution and half life making a good candidate for treatment of respiratory infections (1).
